Elisabeth Dowle

b. London, England 1951

Elisabeth is self-taught and specialises in painting crops and fruit. She has paintings in collections worldwide, including the Lindley Library, the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, the Shirley Sherwood Collection and the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine. She has seven Royal Horticultural Society Gold Medals and holds a St Cuthbert’s Mill Award (the mill responsible for paper used for the text pages of The Highgrove Florilegium). Elisabeth painted sixty life size Auriculas for the recent publication Through the Ages by Patricia Cleveland-Peck (published by the Crowood Press).
