In 1977 Sarah qualified as a landscape architect and went on to study Urban Design at the Oxford School of Architecture. Her lifelong appreciation of plants began during her time at Pershore Horticultural College. Sarah studied botanical illustration with Anne-Marie Evans.
She is a member of the Leicestershire Society of Botanical Illustrators (LSBI) and the Chelsea Physic Garden Florilegium Society, where she became a Fellow in 2002. Sarah holds workshops and short courses. She is on the selection committees of the LSBI and the Eden Project Florilegium Society. Sarah has been awarded two Silver-Gilt Medals at the Royal Horticultural Society.
Her work has been exhibited at the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation, The Ursus Gallery, the Natural History Museum, The Hortus Gallery and the Shirley Sherwood Gallery. Her work is held by the Lindley Library.
